Clean up for Remembrance 2019

The Petersfield Society’s seventh town-wide litterpick will take place 2nd – 10th November to help the town look its best for Remembrance Sunday. The clean-up will take place in three stages:

1)    Launch: Sat 2nd Nov, 2.30 – 5.00pm, Petersfield Methodist Church, GU32 3ED: a gathering, with special guests, to launch the project. Volunteers are invited to come along and collect equipment, agree routes and enjoy refreshments together.
2)    “Deep clean”: Volunteers clean-up their areas on a day, at a time (and in weather conditions!) to suit them.
3)    “Final polish”: Sunday 10th Nov (Remembrance Sunday) an early-morning muster for a small team of volunteers to do a “final polish” of the town centre and main routes into the town – whatever the weather!

There will be the facilities for volunteers to sort the litter they collect for recycling. Volunteers can get involved at any stage of the project.

“At the 75th D-Day Commemorations nations came together to remember, to learn the lessons of the past, and to look beyond their differences to a better future,” said Beth Svarovska a trustee of Petersfield Society. “As a mark of our respect, Petersfield can be litter-free on Remembrance Sunday. We have the opportunity to come together to rectify the pollution of litter, to enhance and preserve our environment, and for people of all ages to channel their passions for the environment in practical ways.”
