The group is made up of young people age ranging 4 to 14, and 6 adults.  We meet regularly at weekends to do litter picks around the town of Forres in Morayshire.  Our group is the youth section of Forres in Bloom hence FIB in our name.  We have done several litter picks this year already tackling problem areas and writing to local businesses to raise awareness.  We have recently taken over a Community Garden and are in the process of sowing seeds, planting shrubs and repairing and renewing structures.  We meet for this on a Monday evening 6-7.30pm.  Forres is going for Gold in the Britain in Bloom competition and we hope that our efforts will help the town achieve this prestigious award.

Update to last year's entry into Britain in Bloom.  Due to the extraordinary efforts of the group in partnership with Forres in Bloom and school gardening groups Forres achieved GOLD in 2008.  Now Forres, the only entrant for Scotland and one of two for the whole of the UK is entered into Entente Florale Europe along with 11 other countries.

We are all working towards Judging Day of 28th July 2009 and many of the group along with volunteers in the community have joined Adopt a Street Initiative and taken responsibility for our streets.  To date 68 streets out of 167 have been adopted.  We hope to reach a 100 by July.  If anyone in Forres would like to adopt their street or an area to clear litter please contact the Coordinator Margaret Cowie on 07800670665.
