5 hardy individuals armed only with a tight fitting green waistcoat, a pair of gloves and a strong will ventured out on a very wet Saturday afternoon in Nov 08 to tackle two grotty areas of Wincanton, namely Moor Lane and Bayford Rd. In just 90 minutes, we picked 63 kgs of assorted crisp bags, plastic bottles, cans and general unmentionable detritus. For our efforts, we were delighted to be awarded two Wincanton Town mugs by the Town Clerk and took great satisfaction in seeing the 2 areas a little cleaner. This event has triggered our desire to do more and the Wincanton Litter Army has now been born. Many more recruits are required to keep the momentum going before a mask of Spring Green covers over the disgrace of litter in our verges for another summer. YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!
