Areas covered: The group parish of Callow and Haywood, just south of Hereford City
Litterwatch has the aim of involving local people in taking positive action to reduce litter in our lanes. We are a rural parish on the edge of Hereford City and have a significant litter problem caused by people driving out of the city and throwing fast food litter from cars.
- We have organised an annual litter pick of the parish since 2000. The next Litter Pick is on March 28th 2009
- We have a network of volunteer Litterwatchers who collect litter in their own areas on their own initiative.
- We secured funding from the local authority to get twelve Litterwatch street signs put up around the parish
- We publicise our events and litter issues in our parish newsletter
- We encourage parish residents to report fly-tipping to Herefordshire Council
- We have talked to our local Mcdonalds about their contribution to local litter
